Section1 AFFIXES AWARDED BY WAY OF EXAMINATION
N.DIP.BDS |
Students who have completed a Final Year BDS National Diploma Course in Retail Design, POS design, Exhibition design WITH AN OVERALL DISTINCTION are automatically entitled to use the affix N.DIP.BDS. |
TECH.BDS |
Students who have successfully completed the BDS Technician Certificate Course in Display
WITH AN OVERALL DISTINCTION are automatically entitled to use the affix TECH.BDS. |
DIP.BDS |
Students who have successfully completed the BDS General Certificate Course in Display
WITH AN OVERALL DISTINCTION are automatically entitled to use the affix DIP.BDS. |
CERT BDS |
CERT.BDSrecognition is open to all those who have successfully completed a BDS recognised and approved alternative course of design studies. |
Section 2 MEMBERSHIP AND AFFIXES AWARDED BY WAY OF APPLICATION
ORDINARY
MEMBERSHIP |
Open to those who have no formal training in display, but have a general interest in design. No affix applies to this category.

LICENTIATESHIP |
LBDS recognition is open to those who have been actively engaged in the delivery of design courses, as distinct from those engaged in commercial practice, for a minimum of three years.

ASSOCIATESHIP |
ABDS recognition is open to those who have been actively engaged in design practice for a minimum period of five years, or have passed the appropriate examinations.

FELLOWSHIP |
FBDS recognition is open to all those who have held Licentiateship (LBDS) or Associateship (ABDS) for a minimum period of three years, plus submission of folio of work and sponsorship by two fellows of the Society.

Applications for affixes in section 2 must be accompanied by a full CV and portfolio, evidence of
Teaching qualifications where applicable and other criteria as detailed on the appropriate application form.
